News for this week includes the stick shift making a comeback. Following a decades-long decline, sales of manual vehicles rose to 1.7% in 2023, up from 1.2% the year before and a low under 1% in 2021. Mini recently added three new stick models and Acura reintroduced a manual Integra in June after cutting it out of its lineup in 2015. Aficionados used to argue that manuals get better fuel mileage or have quicker acceleration—but experts say that’s no longer the case. Instead, mostly younger buyers say they’re drawn to manuals for the driving experience and as a counter to an increasingly automated world.

Have a wonderful weekend,
