Happy New Year from the Harper Wealth Management Group! Wishing you a bountiful and peaceful 2019.

Welcome to Ways & Means, our new blog. Marc Morais and I will be taking turns updating the blog to share our philosophy on wealth management as well as timely updates about the markets and economy. We’ll also lighten it up once in a while with personal news and share upcoming events and community involvement.

The quote at the top of the post is near and dear to me, especially as a financial planner, as is the name of our blog. It’s at the heart of what we do here: money and time; how and with what. When I create alternate scenarios for financial plans I have the option to adjust some elements – savings amount, age of retirement, expenses, among others. Each of these are grouped under headings, “Things You Control”, “Things Hard to Control” and “Things You Cannot Control”. Under the last, there are two assumptions to adjust – Investments at Life Expectancy and of course, Life Expectancy. And that’s where the rubber hits the road for most of us – do I have enough to last and how do I plan for the unexpected – the way, the means, how and with what. If we haven’t discussed financial planning at a portfolio review, give me a call to talk about how we can map out your financial future.

Please take a minute to click on the About Us tab to read more about our team members. 2018 saw our team grow from three to five people. Andy, Paula and myself welcomed Marc Morais, an associate investment advisor and Sharon Wolfe-Boyle, our new administrative assistant. You’ll hear more from Marc in upcoming blog posts and you’ll most likely talk to Sharon when you call into our office. Sharon has been working hard these last few months to update our website so please check back often.

I’ll leave you with the good news that the TFSA limit has been increased for 2019 to $6000 for a lifetime limit of $63,500.

Until next time,
