June is upon us which means we are almost halfway through the year already. We love this time of year as the days are longer and summer officially arrives which hopefully means warmer sunny days ahead.

In the end it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

Our kids are all anxiously awaiting the upcoming summer break as well.  We also look forward to celebrating the dads in our lives whether it be in memory, from afar or in person.

We are excited to welcome you to Heritage Park on June 22nd.  It’s always a special time for us when we get the opportunity to meet some of your extended family.  We know it’s a busy time of year for people and hope you are able to join us.

Aging in Canada: The Role of Wearable Technology and Medical Devices

Aging is a significant demographic trend in Canada, with profound implications for society and the healthcare system. By 2030, it is projected that nearly one in four Canadians will be a senior, emphasizing the importance of addressing the needs and preferences of this growing demographic. A notable preference among Canadian seniors is the desire to remain in their own homes as long as possible. This is supported by the data below:

The preference to aging at home is driven by various factors, including the comfort of familiar surroundings, the desire for autonomy and the emotional attachment to their homes and communities. Aging at home, presents numerous challenges and if you do prefer this, technology can help mitigate challenges. For Seniors Month, we share an article about wearables and medical devices that can help at home.

Timeless Influence of Fathers: Life Lessons that Endure

Fathers hold a unique and irreplaceable role in our lives serving as pillars of strength, sources of wisdom and exemplars of resilience. We share with you this video of Mary T. Phillips, Deputy Head of Portfolio Management at Dimensional. She shares how the most enduring lessons taught by her dad were through consistent behavior and daily decisions. These lessons provided her a blueprint for how to navigate life both personally and professionally. These extend beyond managing money, they teach us about planning for the future, making sacrifices for long term benefits, the rewards of incremental actions and understanding the value of security and stability.

As we honor fathers, we invite you to reflect on the lessons you have learned from your own Dad.  What are the life lessons your father taught you that has truly impacted you? As we reflect on the wisdom imparted by our fathers, we celebrate their roles as mentors, role models and steadfast pillars; cherishing the lasting impact they have on our lives.  We would love to hear your stories!
