Giving back as a team

Daily Bread Food Bank – December 2024

The Daily Bread Food Bank is dedicated to eliminating food insecurity and, with more than one in 10 Torontonians relying on food banks, the need for action is more critical than ever. The Food Bank’s work includes distributing fresh and non-perishable food, as well as prepared meals, to more than 200 programs run by 129 member agencies. Recent statistics highlight the growing need: Toronto food banks have served 3.49 million client visits in the past year, a 273% increase since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 3, 2024, members of our team had the privilege of getting an in-depth tour and volunteering at the Food Bank’s facilities. Throughout the day, we were preparing fresh produce, cutting, and organizing ingredients, and assisting in the kitchen to help cook meals. These meals would later be distributed to the Daily Bread Food Bank’s network of partner agencies across the city. This hands-on experience allowed us to contribute directly to the community and gain a deeper understanding of the important role the Daily Bread Food Bank plays in addressing food insecurity in Toronto.

In addition to volunteering, our team is committed to addressing food insecurity through regular financial contributions. Each year, near the holiday season, we make donations not only to the Daily Bread Food Bank but also to The Compass Food Bank. The Compass Food Bank is an organization that serves communities in the Mississauga South area by providing essential food supplies, and a range of services, to help individuals and families regain stability. Compass services include skill development workshops, financial literacy training, and mental health support.

We are proud to support these influential organizations and recognize the vital roles they play in making a meaningful difference to those in need in our communities.

Climbing 1,776 steps was both a personal achievement and a way to contribute to a meaningful cause. The team raised over $3,300 of crucial funds for environmental conservation, highlighting the power of collective action in preserving our planet.

RBC Race for the Kids – May 2023

In May 2023, a team member participated in the annual RBC Race for the Kids event. Taking part in the race was an incredible experience, combining physical endurance with a meaningful purpose. The team raised over $1,500 for youth mental health programs, helping provide vital resources and support to young people in need. Running alongside others who share a passion for making a difference reinforced the impact that community-driven initiatives can have on important causes.
