Making a difference in our community

A leading corporate citizen that helps clients thrive and communities prosper.

Our corporate citizenship strategy puts communities at the center of what we do. In 2017, through the RBC Foundation, RBC Dominion Securities provided $3.5MM in donations to over 1,000 charitable organizations in communities where we have a business presence.

In the past year, Canadian RBC employees and retirees volunteered 150,000 non-work hours. Our annual employee giving campaign raised more than $20 million for over 4,000 charities.

Investing in Canadian youth

We are moving beyond financial investment by engaging the public and private sectors to make a significant impact on the lives of young Canadians. Over the next 10 years, RBC Future Launch, a $500 million commitment, will dedicate knowledge, skills and resources to bring people together to create solutions — so young people are better prepared for the future of work

Financial Literacy

In the coming years and decades, it’s estimated that approximately $400 billion will be passed down to inheritors in Canada. With this in mind, we are strengthening our focus on younger generations. The Wealth Management Financial Literacy program, designed for individuals 16 years of age and older, will allow advisor teams to educate their clients, families, and communities.

National Community Initiatives

RBC DS branches across the country support our national community partners through their volunteer efforts. Last year, we supported Habitat for Humanity, Canada Food Banks, Dress for Success and Women’s Brain Health Initiative. This is in addition to the many community organizations that our advisors support through their own personal giving.

We believe that creating positive social impact is absolutely integral to everything we do. It is fundamental to our philosophy and at the very heart of our approach to corporate giving.

Cedar Centre & RBC DS

RBC DS Aurora/Newmarket is pleased to announce that this year we were able to raise $25,000 through our IA Golf Day at Diamondback Golf & Country Club in Richmond Hill, Ontario. All of these proceeds will be donated to the Cedar Centre in Newmarket, Ontario to help them run their incredible initiatives. The Cedar Centre is a remarkable foundation which provides a unique approach to therapy, education and advocacy for those who have experienced trauma. They work from anit-racist and anit-oppresive frameworks, serving all ages. They are committed to improving individuals lives through a trauma-specific therapy plan that is designed to meet each person's unique needs, strengths and challenges. We here at RBC DS are so proud of the great work they do within our community and couldn't be happier to be associated with such an amazing foundation.

RBC DS & CMHA

In any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians will personally experience a mental health issue or illness. This year, there is an undeniably higher degree of stress for many Canadians, given the uncertainty and strain of the current global health crisis. In recognition of Mental Health Week, RBC Dominion Securities branches across Canada are supporting their local Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) chapter with donations through the RBC Foundation. At this critical time, we are proud to further CMHA’s mission to improve the well-being of Canadians struggling with mental health. No one should face a mental health issue alone. Our financial commitment to CMHA and HEADSTRONG Summits is just one way we at RBC aim to show Canadians that when it comes to mental health, we stand strong beside them.

Meals On Wheels & RBC DS

1 in 8 Canadian households struggle to feed their families (according to Statistics Canada) – a number that is on the rise due to COVID-19. As a way to support food security in our communities, RBC DS has partnered with Meals on Wheels, a charitable organization dedicated to ensuring food delivery to vulnerable individuals and those who are self-isolating due to the pandemic including seniors, people with physical disabilities and individuals suffering from illnesses. Meals on Wheels is a safe, credible service and there is a Meals on Wheels program in almost every province. You can find your local Meals on Wheels program through the Canadian Red Cross. We are incredibly proud to support Meals on Wheels’ important work, now more than ever.
