Today marks International Women's Day! This year's theme is “I am limitless” and stands for the resiliency, strength, empowerment, and bravery we believe women demonstrate both in everyday life, and on the journey for equality.

In celebration of IWD, our team was able to listen in on a very special conversation with Malala Yousafzai, co-founder of the Malala Fund and Nobel Laureate. During the virtual presentation Malala shared her extraordinary journey; she is known for her passionate human rights advocacy, especially for the education of women and children in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Her advocacy has grown into an international movement, and according to former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, she has become the country's "most prominent citizen".

In 2007 when Malala was ten years old, her life changed when the Taliban took control of her community. Girls were banned from attending school, and cultural activities like dancing and watching television were prohibited. By the end of 2008, the Taliban had destroyed nearly 400 schools. Determined to go to school and with a firm belief in her right to an education, Malala stood up to the Taliban. Alongside her father, Malala quickly became a critic of their tactics. “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?” she once said on Pakistani TV.  Malala is a symbol of kindness, resourcefulness and courage.
